To Whom It May Concern:
I strongly recommend Joseph Jammer and Jammer Time Express to any educator, community leader, librarian, or professional committed to early childhood literacy and sharing the joy of reading. I hold a Master’s Degree in Library Science, with an emphasis in children’s literature, from the University of Maryland, and have experience working to build new school libraries in the Washington, D.C. Public Schools, as a children’s librarian in Arlington Public Library (VA) and currently, as the Assistant Manager of the Hampton-Illinois Branch of the Dallas Public Library, where I have had the pleasure of working with Joseph Jammer during my tenure.
I first experienced Mr. Jammer’s creative energy and commitment to inspiring children to read when we began planning children’s programming and outreach. I rarely meet someone in this profession with such a depth of creative ideas combined with a firm grasp of early childhood literacy and storytelling. Mr. Jammer’s enthusiasm and energy for entertaining children is infectious. His ideas for reaching out to children in our service area have energized the staff and his performances have demonstrated the importance of bringing stories alive. Mr. Jammer’s theater background becomes especially evident when he dons his Lyndale the Literary Lion costume, directing his talents to inspiring children to read.
When Mr. Jammer becomes Lyndale, children’s eyes light up and they become mesmerized by the talents of this literary lion. Lyndale’s storytelling performance includes cautionary tales, emphasizing the importance of reading, alphabet songs, emotive call and response songs, imagination games, book talks and more. All of Mr. Jammer’s methods for building early childhood literacy skills are recommended techniques promoted by the American Library Association’s “Every Child Ready to Read” initiative, as well as many other State initiatives promoting literacy.
I have performed with and beside Mr. Jammer at storytelling events and I highly recommend his performance for any size or age audience. While Mr. Jammer’s Lyndale the Literary Lion performance is geared toward pre-school and younger audiences, his knowledge of children’s literature and his engaging personality and enthusiasm about the power of reading would make him a fabulous guest speaker for any audience.
If you are looking to hire a performer who can not only entertain, but inspire, whose program rests on a firm foundation of knowledge about the skills necessary to build early childhood literacy and demonstrates the joy of reading, then don’t wait, schedule a performance today!
Sincerely,
Pamela Rogers,
