It is a pleasure to write in recommendation of Lyndale the Literary Lion. Lyndale’s creator, Joseph Jammer, has been on my staff at the public library for over 4 years. Joseph has taken his deep love of learning and combined it with his knowledge that reading is the key to the success of children in life and created a wonderful program to encourage and enhance reading for children.

To watch Lyndale is to see a group of children and parents transformed. To see the look in children’s eyes as Lyndale takes them into the world of reading is truly a delight. Lyndale uses songs, dancing, storytelling, and books to spark an interest in reading. Lyndale’s stories keep children on the edge of their seats. His songs and puppet shows completely involve the audience and bring reading to life.

Children, parents, and caregivers leave Lyndale’s program excited and ready to read. I often see them come directly into the library to seek out books. Almost without exception they become repeat users of the library.

I encourage you to take a close look at Lyndale and what he has to offer. In my 30 years of working with children and books I know that it is rare to find such a high energy, high quality program for children and families. Additionally, Lyndale has a CD which is a great extension to his show. I recommend him without reservation.
